Xanxus was the one who trained Nio how to take revenge on the hit-man who killed his parents. He also used Nio to do other foolish acts of petty crime. They never really got along, but Nio respects Xan as more than anyone. He sees him as a teacher and a family, and before he met Ben, loved Xan with all of his heart... Unfortunatly for Nio Xan really never gave a damn about him, but sees him as a very important tool and used his emotions to control him. He is also aware of Nio's family history of the virus and was trying to learn a way to use this as a weapon.
