history: Edward's father left them when he was young, so he and his brother lived with their mother untill her death. Without anywhere to go Ed and Al trained with an alchemy teacher to try and resurect their mother, but when their transmutation failed Edward lost a leg and Alphonse's body was destroied. In order to save his brother Ed sacrificed his arm to attach Al's soul to a suit of armor. They now travel to try and restore their bodies to normal.
